At 18 kilometers from Laayoune city, the first milestone of the ambitious project of the Technopole Foum El Oued, the UM6P Research Center, is nearly finished.

Inaugurated in 2016 by His Majesty The King Mohammed VI, the Technopole Foum El Oued project is designed to provide the region with a knowledge hub meant to impact the whole African continent.

Stretching over 5,000 square meters, the construction of the UM6P Research Center is completed  and the 6 buildings are almost ready to be operational !

The UM6P Research Center includes three research units dedicated to biotechnology, renewable energies, water and the environment, and camel valorization. It includes a restaurant, a conference room, and a technology hall, all designed with the latest renewable technologies.

After the completion of the UMP6 Research Center, all efforts will focus on the construction of the second and largest plot of the project which includes the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, the "Lycée d'Excellence", a business incubator and a whole infrastructure to promote culture. This laboratory for research and experimentation, as well as a knowledge transfer platform, will boost the socio-economic development, both regionally and across the African continent.
