International Forum on City of Challenges The Phosboucraa Foundation is launching the first world forum on eco-technological cities from October 17 to 19, 2019, in Laâyoune in Southern Morocco, with the aim of better identifying the issues facing the cities of tomorrow, which are both environmental and technological. Ecological innovation is partly technological innovation: in other words, technology can help to implement greener cities.

The goal is to launch a global debate on the concept of eco-technological cities, where technological innovation is not in conflict with ecosystem protection, sustainable development and the return to nature.

In a systemic vision of the urban environment, new technologies are placed at the service of human development, working just as well in remote locations as in large urban centers, thus eliminating the divisions and inequalities most often displayed through the North/South distinction. The goal is to preserve the human species by providing ecological and innovative services.

This first forum will end with a meeting with all participants who will contribute to laying the foundations for an eco-technological city charter and the next forum.

The participants

This forum is intended to be a meeting place for decision-makers, professionals, academics, and business people from around the world to discuss and have debates on the topic of “City of Challenges: Eco-Technological Innovation.” Leading figures will be invited to express their views on the challenges of implementing eco-technological cities worldwide.

Structure of the forum

The forum will last two days, with the previous day, October 17, reserved for welcoming participants and a visit of the region. Two morning round tables will be held on the event days, with two main themes:

Resilience: October 18.

Planning eco-cities: October 19.

Opening speeches will take place before the morning round table of October 18, and the Laâyoune technology cluster project will presented before the round table of October 19. On both afternoons, panels devoted to more specific themes, led by specialists in the field, will be held.
